The pro aqua diamond electrode consists of boron-doped diamond particles integrated in a polymer matrix as a carrier material. The carrier material is non-conducting, therefore the diamond particles are supplied with energy though a bi-polar operation mode. Depending on the application purpose, one or more diamond electrodes are built into a flow-through cell between two contact electrodes. The following graphic demonstrates the schematic design of a pro aqua flow-through cell with two integrated diamond electrodes.
The contact electrodes are supplied with voltage and the electrolyte to be treated, such as water, is pumped through the cell. The electrical conductivity of water and the special arrangement of the diamond particles in the polymer matrix create a closed circuit. There, the diamond electrodes are supplied with energy and an electro-chemical reaction for the production of oxidizers begins.
